THE EAGLE FLYER IS ON-LINE! Yes, you, too,
can now read all the news from Sunol Glen School right on your
computer screen. Just go to www.sunol.net, click on Sunol Glen
and then on Eagle Flyer and you're there. And of course for
those of you who prefer your news on newsprint, this column
will continue to keep you up to date on happenings at the center
of the community, our wonderful little school.
That said, it takes longer to put the Eagle Flyer together
for the on-line version, so submissions need to reach the school
office no later than 2:50 p.m. on Monday to be included in Thursday's
newsletter. It is a perfect way to reach all the Sunol Glen
families with announcements of community events and expressions
of gratitude for school volunteers.
BE A BROWNIE OR JUNIOR GIRLSCOUT! The first meeting
of the new school year for Sunol's Brownie and Junior Girl Scout
troops is Wednesday, September 24. Returning scouts should be
contacted soon by their leaders with specific meeting time and
place. Returning Brownies can contact Cathy Morris at 925-862-2350,
while returning Junior Scouts can contact either Lori Nielsen
(925-862-2970) or Victoria Barnes (925-862-0204). If you are
interested in becoming a Girl Scout, please contact Lori. Girl
Scouting is open to girls of all ages and if enough girls and
volunteer leaders are interested, Sunol will form more troops.
NEWS FROM SUNOL 4-H: The first meeting of the fabulous
Sunol 4-H Club is Thursday (9-11) at 6:30 p.m. in the school
cafeteria. All interested youth and their parents are invited
to join the fun. As always, there are many project areas being
offered, including beef, carpentry, cooking, drama, horse, leadership,
mini-4-H, rabbit, scrapbooking, sheep and swine groups. And
if you have an interest you'd like to share, volunteering as
a leader for a new project is a very rewarding experience. There
are also camping and skating trips, parties, barbecues and much
more in store for Sunol 4-H members. For information, please
contact Teresa Donovan at 925-862-2118.
AYE, MATEY, IT'S WALKATHON TIME! Sunol Glen's annual
Community Club walkathon is on the calendar for Saturday, September
27. The all-day super fundraiser has a fun-filled pirate theme
this year, and it's called Walk-the-Plankathon. There are numerous
ways you can be part of this special day - donate a prize for
an exceptional walker (contact Carolyn Glass at 925-862-2325),
and sign up in the school office to help at the event setting
up, helping with registration, passing out lap treats, painting
faces and more.
You can also be a sponsor and/or get your employer to be one.
Donors of $500 or more will have their logo on the walkathon
t-shirt, and donors of $150 to $500 will have their name or
company name on the shirts. The deadline for receipt of your
logo (a business card is fine) and confirmation of all sponsorships
for t-shirt printing is Friday (9-12), so get your info and
your check payable to Sunol Glen Community Club to the school
office pronto! The office has formal request letters on Community
Club letterhead to provide to your employer, and donations are
tax deductible. For sponsor info, please contact Linda Krikorian
at 925-426-1474.
