THE SUNOL EVENT CENTER IS HOSTING one of its largest
fund-raisers to date, the Feb. 20 Save the Children Tsunami
Relief Benefit Concert.
The event, from noon to 6 p.m., will feature four local bands
-- Generation Blue, Uncovered, Moreality and Georgi and The
Rough Week -- as well as wine tastings from local Livermore
Valley wineries and food from local restaurants. Tickets can
be purchased for $20 per person by calling Georgi Longboya at
650-208-2640, or by going to the Web site www.georgiandtheroughweek.com.
Children 12 and younger are free.
A few of our local wineries did very well at the 2005 San Francisco
Chronicle's Wine Competition held Jan. 26-28. Sandi Bohner and
Bill Webster's Little Valley Vineyards received a Silver award
for their 2000 Tempranillo. Congratulations to Randy and Lisa
Lynch of Bennett Lane Winery for capturing a Silver Award for
their 2002 Cabernet and 2002 Maximus.
Approximately 3,200 wines were tasted from more than 900 wineries
in this annual competition held at the Cloverdale Citrus Fairgrounds
in Sonoma County. Sunol's Fran and Lanny Replogle of Fenestra
Winery received two Silver Awards for their 2001 Merlot and
2002 Mourvedre. Fenestra Winery is hosting its 22nd annual barrel
tasting Feb. 19, 20 and 21 from noon to 5 p.m.
