Congratulations to Sunol Glen School's Nancy Brazil for winning our districts prestigious Teacher of the Year Award. Nancy's was honored at an awards ceremony held at Chabot College on November 3 along with 14 other teachers representing all the school districts in Alameda County.

Referred to Sunol Glen School by friend and fellow teacher Becky Radulovich, Nancy began her teaching career at Sunol as a substitute teacher in 1995. She taught half-time in 1999 and began a full time tenure in 2000. "Braaaz" as her students lovingly call her, has taught fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade. She says: "I really love teaching the upper grades". Nancy is currently teaching eighth grade language arts and social studies, sixth grade science, fifth grade language arts and student council leadership.

Nancy said, "Sunol is like home to me. It just really provides an environment where you feel valued not only by the students and parents but also the staff. It's a school that is unique because it has somehow been able to maintain that small town closeness that so many school don't have".

"I love Sunol kids, they are just genuine. Another thing about Sunol is that we also have a genuine interest in our kids. We nurture the whole child; their sprit and their academic side".

Nancy makes her home in Pleasanton with husband Larry Brazil and their children, daughters Chelsea, a Foothill High senior; Maddie a Foothill High junior; and son Andrew, an eighth grade student at Hart Middle School.

The Sunol Repertory Theatre has been a solid supporter of the Arts at Sunol Glen School and they are presenting a check to the school in the amount of $7,000 at the Board meeting tomorrow evening. That means that this wonderful the theater group has donated a whopping $81,000 to the school in the past 24 years. Bravo!
