Do you know someone who has done many great things to support
Sunol Glen School? Each year a person is awarded the "Vivian
Scheib Award" for outstanding volunteer work at the school.
You can nominate someone by completing a form in the school
office and turning it back in no later than May 16th. The winner
will receive the award at the annual Volunteer Tea on June 1
in the school cafeteria.
Mark your calendars for May 18 because it's going to be a big
night at Sunol Glen School. The schools talented music students
from third, fourth and fifth grades, along with the advanced
band members, will be performing their Spring Concert at 6:30
in the Auditorium. Then it's the school's annual Open House,
which follows the concert at 7:00 p.m. The school is also holding
a Scholastic Book Fair from May 18 to May 23. You may purchase
books in the library during the day, at lunch or after school
only or during Open House.
It's called re-gifting; you know those items we receive as
gifts throughout our lives that we really don't have any use
for but don't have the heart to throw away. Well, now is the
time to gather those never-before-used-gifts and donate them
to the Sunol Community Club's Spring Fling being held on June
4. Donated items are still needed for this wonderful fundraiser.
Besides having a live and silent auction, there will be hors
devours and wine tasting from local wineries. The Sunol Community
Club has provided the school with many much-needed items such
as purchasing desk, books, computers and flags; and provided
funding for students to attend field trips. This fundraiser
is a great way to give back to the school and the community.
Please contact Brigit Craig at 925-803-9150 for more information.
Several local environmental groups will be holding a joint meeting
on May 17 at 6:30 at the Kilkare Woods Clubhouse located at
12051 Glenora Way. Save Our Sunol, Stop The Dump and the Alameda
Creek Alliance groups will be meeting to discuss the Apperson
Ridge Quarry Project.
Little Brown Church of Sunol members will gather on Sunday to
bid farewell to Pastor Ron Hunt & Lisa Hunt as they are
moving back to Ron's home state of Minnesota. Church leaders
are currently seeking an interim minister while they prepare
for the lengthy process of finding a permanent minister. Good
luck to you Ron and Lisa; you will surely be missed by many.
And on a personal note, I wish you peace.
