Sunol 4-H is again making a strong showing in
the livestock division at this year's Alameda County Fair.
Sunol 4-H scored big in swine, winning seven first place awards
in different classes. The winners are Danielle Scroggins, Mike
Brunicardi, Jessica Crawford, Chanel Schvaneveldt, Kyle Scroggins,
Randi Moore and Justin Amaral, who won in two different weight
classes. Cassi Scroggins received a second place award and Jessica
Crawford also received a second place award in two different
weight classes.
Sunol 4-H also won a first place award in swine for "pen
of five".
Winning an award in horsemanship was Nichole Nelson for High
Point English riding and Reserved High Point Western riding.
Winnings awards in rabbits were a first place award for Maddie
McClay in her fur division and a second place award in breed.
Megan Harlen received a second place award in fur division.
Devin Well received a fourth place award in breed and a second
place award in fur. Wyatt Milne received a fifth place award
in best of breed.
Winning awards in sheep were Katie Surles who won a fourth
place award in her market class, Sarae Van Dyke also received
a fourth place in market class, Nichole Nelson received sixth
place in her Market Class, Andrew Nelson received an award for
eighth place in market class and Amanda Hoxie also received
eighth place award
Winning awards in beef were Danielle Scroggins who placed third
in her weight class, Gabrielle Gilbert and Haley Imhof placed
fourth in their weight classes. Jessica Crawford placed in her
weight class went on to win Grand Champion 4-H Steer.
Excellent job, we know you all worked very hard all year to
show off your animals during the fair.
Elliston Vineyards is excited to announce its new summer hours
which have been extended to include Friday in addition to their
regular Saturday and Sunday wine tasting from 11:00 a.m.-5:00
p.m.
Reminder-The Sunol Citizen's Advisory Committee is holding
a meeting on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Sunol Glen Community
Room.
Looking for some live entertainment? Appearing at Bosco's Bones
and Brew, Sunol's old-fashioned western themed saloon, this
weekend is Wicker Vault on Friday night and Just Truckin' on
Saturday night.
Calling all dog lovers, do you think your favorite pooch has
something special? It's the 7th annual Niles Dog Show on July
16th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Niles Community Park
at Third and H Streets. This dog show can only mean lots of
fun considering the unique list of different types of dog class
such as awards for most handsome male dog, most unusual mix
dog, best rescued dog, prettiest female dog and best costumed
dog. There will also be sheep herding dog demonstrations.
The Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum is showing their weekly
Saturday night at the Movies at 7:00 p.m. in their museum on
Niles Blvd. This weeks feature films include the 1926 film The
Night Cry featuring Rin Tin Tin; Love My Dog filmed in 1927
and featuring Our Gang and the 1913 feature Bronco Billy and
the Western Girls.
